"Sound" Doctrine

Something that was shared by our lead pastor over here at City On a Hill Melbourne  to the "Creative Team"

To give a little context, the "Creative Team" consist of musicians, audio team, equipment  logistics, Powerpoint

-Honouring God with our content and our life-

Can we combine solid doctrine in heart with music?....

3 Questions to ask..

1.What is the purpose of God?
2.How does He achieve His Purpose?
3.How does our purpose connect with His purpose?

Practical Stuff

1. What Is The Purpose Of God

One of many ways to view this is in the thought of God revealing His glory.

One real life example I had while I was in America, while visiting the Grand Canyon, I only knew about its name and seeing pictures on the internet about it. But, as I stand there amaze as I witness with my own eyes the scenery. I was in awe of such grandness, to witness a beautiful sight and just enjoy it.

Much like God, He wants to reveal His glory, the good thing about God's glory is that not only is it for revealing. But for us to savour in it. A rejoicing in his Gladness.

To be so amaze and stunt by the beauty of the Grand Canyon, the creation. What more the Creator?

2. How Does He Achieve His Purpose

How then does God plan to reveal His glory?

We would look into three areas.

- Manifest through pictures
His creation would best be regard as His design. From the massive Mount Everest to the tiny details of a Daisy. Everything in all creation reflect God's glory in one way or another.

-Through His Words
This would be an obvious one. Just as we write letters or messages to communicate to someone. So does God connects with us through His word.

-By becoming a man
The significance of this fact still amazes me up till this day. To ponder on such a humbling action leaves me with no excuse to even have a hint of pride. Here we have a God who at first seem unreachable by the laws that we needed to keep and now, its freely attainable to whoever who believes. At the end Jesus's Ministry, not only did it brought glory to God, but brought us back in to share in His glory.

3. How Does Our Purpose Connects With His Purpose

As we are moved by creation. Being inspired and amaze by the things around us. How much more is it than for us to witness His glory? Uncontainable.

Not only does God create and paint a beautiful picture. Think of us as a frame for his work. With the right frame, it is able to compliment the picture and enhance the audiences enjoyment. A frame thats too fancy may distract audience from the picture and towards the frame instead, like wise if it looks too cheap. The right picture has to go with the right frame.

May we create and be able to bring glory to God, to paint or compliment a picture. To live life.

Practical Stuff

1. Invest in you craft

- What has God given you? Thats a responsibly we have to bring it to its best.
Just like if your given a blunt dagger, you need to sharpen it so that it can be used to its potential

-Referencing to Malcom Gladwell in his book "Outlier", He states no one who becomes famous has not already invested at least 10,000 hours in their field. He goes to the extend of sharing stories of "The Beatles", "Mozart" and others who only achieved what we know of them after their 10,000 hours. And thats a lot of hours.

-Risk, make mistakes, take opportunity, and most importantly pursue humility in the way that you allow others to speck in to your gifts. Allow them to correct you and critique you.

2. Don't worship your gift.

-Don't go to your gifts to make you a somebody.
-Don't depend on it to be a somebody either.

3. Take your art to unbelievers

4.Encourage to equip others.

So thats pretty much it, I do not own any of this content however except for the personal experiences. Hope it encourages you.
